Growth loop

Growth loop

Unlike a linear funnel, a loop feeds its result back into the next cycle. Examples include referrals, shared content, marketplace liquidity, user-generated templates, and data that improves recommendations. Teams should identify the input, user action, output, reinvestment mechanism, cycle time, and quality constraints. A loop can compound only if the output reliably creates value rather than spam or low-quality growth.

What is Growth loop?

A growth loop is a repeatable system in which user activity creates an output that helps acquire, activate, retain, or monetize additional users.

Why it matters

Unlike a linear funnel, a loop feeds its result back into the next cycle. Examples include referrals, shared content, marketplace liquidity, user-generated templates, and data that improves recommendations. Teams should identify the input, user action, output, reinvestment mechanism, cycle time, and quality constraints. A loop can compound only if the output reliably creates value rather than spam or low-quality growth.

Example

Users create public dashboards, those dashboards appear in search, new visitors sign up to build their own, and the cycle repeats.
