Active users

The word “active” must be defined for each product. Logging in may be sufficient for one service, while another may require creating content, completing a transaction, or using a core feature. A clear activity definition prevents inflated numbers and makes DAU, WAU, and MAU comparable over time. Active-user metrics are best interpreted with retention and engagement measures rather than as standalone indicators of product health.

What is Active users?

Example

A collaboration tool defines an active user as someone who views or edits a project during the day, not merely someone whose app opens in the background.
