Behavioral cohort

Behavioral cohort

Behavioral cohorts help teams compare people based on demonstrated product behavior instead of only demographics or signup dates. Cohorts can be used to analyze retention, conversion, feature adoption, or campaign response. The behavior and time window should be explicit, and membership may be fixed or dynamic depending on the use case.

What is Behavioral cohort?

A behavioral cohort is a group of users defined by actions they performed—or did not perform—during a specified period.

Why it matters

Behavioral cohorts help teams compare people based on demonstrated product behavior instead of only demographics or signup dates. Cohorts can be used to analyze retention, conversion, feature adoption, or campaign response. The behavior and time window should be explicit, and membership may be fixed or dynamic depending on the use case.

Example

A team creates a cohort of users who used collaborative editing at least three times last month, then compares their retention with users who never used it.
