As a product analytics solution, establishing a strong sense of trust is vital to what we do. It provides the foundation for the relationships we build with our clients, which in turn allows our clients to confidently provide the services they need to their customers.

Data privacy and security are both key components of building a level of trust that is essential for both our customers and ourselves as a company. And in today’s environment, which sees the industry move towards tighter data controls - both through regulations and consumer demand - these components are becoming even more of a necessity, particularly if you’re a digital service provider.

That’s why we’re proud to announce that Countly has received a System and Organization Controls (SOC) 2 Type 2 certification.

We see this as a major milestone as it recognizes Countly’s robust security protocols and solid governance principles.

What is a SOC 2 Certification?

SOC 2 is an auditing process that measures a company’s ability to manage security and privacy practices. It provides organizations with a framework that enables them to provide secure and reliable services to their customers and manage protocols that ensure that they can effectively protect customer data and sensitive information.

It was developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and is the standard for data security amongst digital companies. The certification defines a set of criteria for managing customer data based on the 5 Trust Services Principles and Criteria:

  1. security,
  2. availability,
  3. processing integrity,
  4. confidentiality, and
  5. privacy.

There are two types of SOC 2 reports: Type 1 focuses on the design of an organization's systems and is largely used in regulated industries, like financial services, while SOC Type 2 focuses on the operational aspect and is used more broadly.

What Does SOC 2 Type 2 Certification Mean for Countly?

As a company that values privacy and works with some of the world’s largest brands, this certification reinforces both Countly’s commitment to protecting the safety of our customer’s data, and that we have the right standards in place for the future. It shows that not only is data privacy what we do, but it’s also who we are as a company.

Having undergone the rigorous evaluation process required to attain a SOC 2 Type 2 certification, it also demonstrates that Countly is committed to the data security, availability, and confidentiality standards as outlined by the AICPA.

The SOC 2 Type 2 certification is the latest internationally-recognized, best-in-class privacy and security measure that we have in place, in addition to being compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
